In many Coffin Texts there are descriptions of strange corridors, crossroads that confuse the souls of the dead and also dangerous waters (energies), that can be crossed only with the aid of the Ferryman. In order to overcome these and other obstacles, the dead need to know a password, while the celebrant priests were supposed to help dispose of these and many other secret obstructions, because only in that way could they be of use to the dead.
